Nexus mods download speed slow

The mods are downloading just like in the Nexus Mod Manager, however ive noticed that the download speeds are significanlty reduced. My average download speeds seems to hover around 80kb/s. I realize that I m not a premium user, but my understanding was that the download speed would be capped at 1gb/s.
